classy

This is some classy stuff! Somehow it manages to maintain a balance of both lite/fresh and spices.

It has body, yet not heavy, not feminine which I was afraid of even though it's name says otherwise.

I was afraid of finding patchouli and vanilla making it cloying but it is not.

A little goes a long way. This the kind of scent that adds confidence.

To me this smells exactly like 2 parts Ambre Nuit, to 1 part Baccarat Rouge, to 1 part Satin Mood.

Violet leaf and ambergris stand out as the dominant notes to my nose. Superbly blended vanilla and rose smooth out the scent, producing a gorgeous harmony of notes.

Scent: (5 / 5)
I've sampled about 200 fragrances and this is in my top 3. Only criticism is that it doesn't smell all that niche.

Performance: (3 / 5)
On my skin it's detectable within a foot for about 3 hours, will linger on the skin for about 8 hours.

Versatility: (3 / 5)
Imo this can be worn in the day in the cooler months, and at night all year around. Leans slightly masculine and unmistakably classy.

Overall: (4.5 / 5)
Slightly improved performance and an iota more violet leaf would make this a perfect 5.

gorgeous

Many years ago I smelled YSL Nuit De L'homme for the first time, never felt what I felt back then until I smelled Tuxedo. What a gorgeous smell! Many mentioned that has a designer-ish vibe to it and doesn't really have that niche quality, well, although I agree on the fact that it is mass pleasing, I believe it is far more than a designer fragrance.
I highly recommend it, one of the easiest to wear and most appealing from the YSL le vestiaire des parfums line.

The first time I sniffed through YSL's Le Vestiaire des Parfums, I knew immediately that Tuxedo was the shining star! Honestly, there is a good chance that most niche lovers will find at least one perfume from that line which really resonates with them; I think it's a strong collection due to entries such as Caftan, Caban, Trench, Velours, and arguably more. My colleagues are blown away by Tuxedo in much the same way they felt about Aventus and Tuscan Leather! I'm going to have fun making them pick between some serious legends and Tuxedo.

Sweet amber patchouli infused with light, juicy floral touches and soft spices. The YSL website describes it as "smoked patchouli blended with ambergris accord." It has a lush opening which is a bit "fruity" if I may say so. It settles into a quite memorable sweet patchouli musk with subtle spice. We may have a bit of a masterpiece on our hands here I daresay!

I would definitely recommend sampling Ramon Monegal's Mon Patchouly if you are especially fond of YSL's Tuxedo and vice versa.

good

I was always curious to see how close is Ysl Tuxedo to my lovely Moustache edp and i finally got a sample of Tuxedo. To me Tuxedo is like a grown-up, a bit darker and deeper version of Moustache but 85% the same fragrance. Moustache is brighter, spicier and i get a lot better performance from it. They both have this spicy, boozy, vanilla combo and the most prominent notes to my nose are vanilla, benzoin, patchouli and spicies.

I didn't get good performance from Tuxedo, about 6 hours but it was a skin scent from the fist hour. It's very elegant and beautiful scent. Great for a dinner out or a date and it's quite versatile. Moustache is way better on my skin with 8 hours longevity and moderate projection.

Overall, i really love the smell but i can get something almost identical for 6 times less money. Considering the HUGE price difference, to me Moustache is the better option here, it doesn't lack quality, has better performance but i can see why people love Tuxedo!
