Smoky and oriental, this fragrance is based on a story of three parts - elegance, captivity and letting go.
From luxury perfumer Stéphane Humbert Lucas, Mortal Skin is the first creation under the snake collection, established in 2015. At first enchanting with notes of blackberry, saffron and cardamom, the heart serves to paralyse with heady opoponax and iris, before the final embers of musk, ambre gris and sandalwood are told to steal life from the victim.
  • Base notes: Musk, Ambergris, Sandalwood
  • Spicy
  • Woody
  • Middle notes: Opoponax, Iris
  • Top notes: Blackberry, Saffron, Cardamom

STEPHANE HUMBERT LUCAS Mortal Skin Eau de Parfum main accords

A jet of black ink blended with incense creates an uplifting, mesmerizing effect. A paralysis caused by the yearning to be free and to be convinced. Surrounded by myrrh, smooth and polished leather, and on the verge of consent, the body freezes and the mind flutters. As if wisdom burst forth, the working of the bite slides in and multiplies, and the transparent sandalwood stretches the chosen soul. Ambergris, musks, a metaphor for crime and love - we are one, changed into a sublime wanderer. Bottle gently approaches its victim, hypnotizing them with its diamond eyes and dazzling attractiveness. Its yearning is strong, danger is looming, and seduction is taking place. The snake then rears up and strikes in a flash, spreading its black poison. A stifling heat combines with the frigid cold to paralyze its prey. Mortal Skin Eau de Parfum is captivating and irresistible, and it's too late to leave.

beautiful

This fragrance just hits differently. My wife over the course of the day kept asking me what I was wearing, to her surprise she said it changed unlike my other fragrances. The evolution from the opening to the dry down is just amazing. Definitely a top 10 fragrance in my collection.

sweet fragrance

Ink, incense and blackberries. Intriguing and weird—and a strong performer.

I think it’s hard to do something original, but that’s where I would file Mortal Skin. If you think you’ve smelled it all, or that there’s nothing new in the current market, give this odd bird a spin.

PS: Bottle design is over-the-top, hipster cool. Love that snake!

like it

Opens up very inky, leathery with a smoky undertone. It envelops you in a witchy, poisonous aura, it really stands out for its name.
One of the most original perfumes that I've ever tried, very dense, deep and hypnotising.

excellent

A mysterious and evocative perfume designed to evoke a snake like feel. It begins with a note of ink, leather and blackberry which dries down to reveal notes of styrax, opoponax, cardamom, iris, sandalwood, myrrh, cedar, birch, ambergris, and civet. This unisex perfume with moderate to strong sillage and longevity needs an adventurous and open mind to appreciate the interplay of dark animalic and somewhat lighter woody light spice notes. The feeling created is right on - a mysterious, slithery, viper nestled among the forest vines. Enjoy!

good!

Once in a blue moon I come across something so unique that it's difficult to describe and put in a bucket with similar fragrances. Mortal Skin does not smell like anything I've tried, so there's no point of reference but I'll try. Opening and middle I get mainly blackberry, ink, and incense. It smells very cold, very complex, and mysterious. Beyond that, musk, orris, and unique suede comes out.

A friend described this to me as how he would imagine a snakes skin to smell and I agree. It does have a snake/alligator skin vibe. If I had to compare, it reminds me a little bit of Etat Libre D'Orange Rien, little bit of Tom Ford Fabulous, and Jubilation XXV mixed together. Very interesting option for the cold weather. This is art, but also wearable art that smells good! There's something addictive about this one one. Absolutely bottle worthy..
