Molecule 02 contains only ambroxan, which is a great fixation, and therefore stays with you all day, very pleasant, velvety, warm and delightfully sweet, non-obtrusive.

MOLECULE 02 ESCENTRIC MOLECULES Eau de toilette main accords

Escentric Molecules' Molecule 02 30ml eau de toilette is made up entirely of the Ambroxan molecule. This eau de toilette, suitable for both men and women, has a distinct and long-lasting nutty, warm smell, and its chemistry evolves during the day, making it somewhat different for each individual. Ambroxan is a crystal with the same chemical structure as ambrox, which comes from ambergris. Ambergris has traditionally been regarded for both its elegance and sensuality. This characteristic remains in Ambroxan. "It has a fresh, almost mineral quality," adds perfumer Geza Schoen, "that lingers into the drydown". This 30ml bottle is an excellent travel companion, suitable for slipping into your handbag.

Smells like the sugar-free version of Baccarat Rouge.

it’s so beautiful

So ambroxan aka molecule 2. The love/hate note. It’s put in everything because it’s so beautiful that people are tired of it. I hear complaints about Dior sauvage because there is too much ambroxan... I hear the same people suggest Prada Luna Rosa carbon which has much more ambroxan (it’s basically a pepper and ambroxan one trick pony). This molecule is great because people can finally find out what ambroxan is. The problem is many people experience this scent like many of the other molecules from eccentric molecule... they don’t smell anything at first (molecule 4 is like that for me).

Ambroxan or molecule 2 has a sensual fresh out of the shower woody skin scent. I call it a skin scent not because it sits close to the skin (because it does quite the opposite), but rather it smells like something almost produced by the skin. This is probably the closest thing a person could get to a synthetic pheromone. It may be almost nonexistent to the user, but will flood the nostrils of people around you. This scent also is a wonderful scent to mix or layer with other scents. Since many scents already have ambroxan this can enhance other scents with or without already existing ambroxan. Try it. It will forever be a staple in my collection.

I really, really like this fragrance! But..not as much as Molecule 01, which is my absolute favourite perfume EVER! I tried to keep Molecule 01 as a secret to other people around me, but just couldn't because of the countless questions and comments I received about it. So, unfortunately, some people I know bought it as well. It may sound childish to some, but smelling it on other people made me feel less special. But then..eureka..I mixed my Molecule 01 with Molecule 02, which resulted in a beautiful, divine smell. It only takes a few sprays of Molecule 02 to transform Molecule 01 into a better version of itself;it smells heavenly, I feel special again and now I have an even better secret which, this time, I will keep to myself from people I know. But gladly share with all of you!

beautiful

Mammals have evolved to be able to smell other mammals, ultimately related to their survival. As mammals, there is no reason to believe that humans would not also have traces of those functions, though perhaps not as integral to our survival. There is much debate about whether humans have pheromones, e.g. chemicals that produce a specific and measurable biological response. However, if there were any pheromones that acted by smell, one would imagine that, like sugar, oil, and salt tasting good, such chemicals would smell good. In addition, the chemical would likely need to be picked up in very minute quantities, perhaps without much need for knowing the amount present.

I assume that, based on so many people saying it smells like "you, only better", or like "skin, only better", that molecule 02 trips an olfactory receptor cluster, either in the nose or in the brain, that is in turn experienced as a pleasant smell. Oddly, the concentration seems to only have small effects on the perceived strength of the odor, as people often report that they cannot detect Molecule 02 up close but can smell it better in the air. This is because it is more likely that detection is a yes-no binary response, and being able to quantify the amount is likely unimportant.

With Molecule 02, I subjectively get a very thin smell that is hard to smell up close but paradoxically I can still smell from far away. The less I concentrate on smelling it, the more it smells, it seems. In terms of odor, it smells good, but again is hard to describe because it is more a feeling than a smell; it is a clean, agreable, slightly woody, sweet, and warm smell. Someone called it a "ghost", which resonates. I feel like it is akin to a rainbow. The more you chase it, the more it moves away, but it is always there.

I find it interesting and paradoxical that people describe certain scents as "ambroxan bombs". Ambroxan itself is so hard to describe and elusive that it simply is not a bomb. However, perhaps it could also make the nose more sensitive to any smells that accompany it. If our brain has a sort of "human detection and profiling" routine, perhaps ambroxan is effectively changing up the function of our brains: "if ambroxan is present, then turn up olfactory neuron sensitivity for all other odors". That could explain why fragrances smell stronger when ambroxan is present.

Love!

Most of us fragheads have way too many fragrances to be able to wear one fragrance often enough to call it a signature scent.

Molecule 02 changed all that for me. Because nowadays I layer just about anything I wear with it. So even though I'm rotating fragrances on a daily basis, I'm always wearing my signature note, and some people actually do pick up on it and ask me about it! It is quite fascinating how this fragrance in particular is able to peak the interest of others. On some hot and sunny days I don't feel like layering and I'm more than happy to wear this all by itself.

Smells like fountain pen ink, slightly sweet, sea breeze, fresh and slightly salty and also like a particular kind of varnished wood. Amazing scent, I can never get enough of it, and I will always keep a bottle of this around.

Love, love, love.
