Description
Le Jour Se Lève ("The Day Breaks") is a fragrance that captures the golden glow of the first light of dawn. Inspired by new beginnings and fresh possibilities, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud weaves together the vibrant juiciness of mandarin with the airy elegance of jasmine sambac and osmanthus, evoking the optimism of a new day.
The scent opens with a sunlit burst of citrus and blackcurrant, leading into a floral heart that blends delicate petals with fruity sweetness. As the fragrance settles, soft musk and vanilla create a warm, comforting finish, like the gentle warmth of morning light.
Le Jour Se Lève is an invitation to adventure, an uplifting embrace of new horizons—perfect for those who chase the sun and welcome each day with boundless energy.

This is very nice, but I'm not entirely convinced. Not just yet, anyway. The opening is HEAVENLY---fresh like the mist of an orange straight from its peel, and fleshy and malleable like the peel itself. I imagine every facet of peachy-orange hues of the early morning sky; it is very evocative of the imagery its name suggests. The opening is very delectable and juicy, especially when paired with the blackcurrant note. After it settles into my skin for a few minutes, the osmanthus begins to blossom underneath and contributes a sort of waxy yellow character before a gauzy jasmine begins to dominate. On my skin, this fragrance develops rather rapidly, which is sad for me because the opening is a sort of "makes-your-eyes-roll-back" delicious that is rare in citrus fragrances---it truly smells like raw, fresh mandarin, devoid of any synthetic or cloying quality. Sadly, the drydown is not so outstanding to my nose as is the opening; I find it a rather muddy blend of jasmine and the remnants of the citric opening. The base notes are nonexistent for me; Le Jour Se Léve simply fades away without offering a final adieu, no less one with vanilla (although musk is rather prevalent in the mid notes, I have to say). Additionally, longevity is poor: I sprayed it on my hand in the boutique, and in the time it took me to finish my glass of champagne and kiss my sales assistant goodbye, it had faded almost completely. On paper it smells outstanding and develops more leisurely. To be fair, on my skin it's stunning too, at least for a little bit, I just wish that there was more of it... more potency, and certainly more longevity. I think it's a beautiful addition to the collection, but I'm uncertain if I completely love it just yet. Hopefully I will with time.
This reminds me of a bath and body works scent from 17 yrs ago called basil citrus. Anyway try layering this with victorias secret bare vanilla. it brimgs out the supposed vanilla note in this perfume
Every time I wear this I get crazy compliments. It's more of a Spring/Summer scent, very fresh, but honestly I wear it to any fancy event I have to attend to regardless of the season. If you're into citrusy scents like Chanel's Eau Tendre, D&G Light Blue, TF Neroli Potofino, etc you would probably like this. It's not for everyone, so don't blind buy!
As I was marinating on how I felt about this scent, I put it on a few hours before work. I was stopped in my tracks from a few people commenting how good this smelt and wondering what I was wearing. I was actually surprised how good it projected in such a long period of time (last longer on clothing).
All the notes listed are accurate and well rounded by a soft green note. The musky base is pronounced and floats up on me throughout the day. I rather like this perfume and the bottle design from LV is simply beautiful, it's sleek and the cap is magnetic. Probably my favorite bottle by far, but man was this very difficult to get.
I must admit what really got me to commit to buying a full bottle was @J_TheWombKilla reference to the great movie Burning.
Edit: This has become a like to a love, as it now an easy reach for me. I was indifferent about the mixture of Iso E Super and orange notes when I first used it. I used to be a former professional deep cleaner; it brought back memories of Orange Glo cleaner I used to shine wooden baseboards and doors (though completely different in composition). I'm still deciding whether to repurchase another full bottle once it is almost done. I am leaning on the side to repurchase more than the latter.
Bright, invigorating citrus scent, "fancied" up with some white florals & rose and sweet vanilla . Spray it in the morning to start your day! Underrated LV scent. I don't understand it when people complain of the sillage & longevity of LV scents, it is so Beast Mode to me. 2-3 sprays will fill a room & last all day. LV fragrances seem pricey for designer scents but seriously, they are so potent and that makes it worth the price.
