Hated this at first spray. And second spray. And then …. I gave it more of a chance than just a quick spray in the store and I’m now addicted. The cinnamon isn’t too gourmand to me, much more of a dry and spiced note than a sweet and foodie one. The orris and carrot make things really interesting but still highly wearable, and keep this fragrance from being linear or boring. I catch whiffs all day from a few sprays, and I can honestly say this had become a love for me.

I am a lady and I bought the perfume yesterday as I thought it smelled very sophisticated. I was right. My husband liked it and my hairdresser asked me what it is. I asked her what she thought of it and she said : "a type of flower and smells expensive." She didnt expect it to be a Byredo perfume. So that was very positive . The perfume stayed for 8 hours (my entire workday) and I could still smell it on my clothes even longer. The scent is orris and very sophisticated. There is no grandfather smell in this. The opening smell has that plastic scent but in 2 minutes its gone and has evolved. It is very classy and one must wait frm 2-5 minutes on the skin before judging. I asked my husband, my hairdresser, and the people around us at the beauty salon. The adjective "expensive" was repeated many times. I recommend this for women who dont want to wear run-of-the-mill perfumes. It doesnt offend, it impresses people. Also towards the end of my day it smelled like Malle's En Passant-the longer it is on the skin the more beautiful. It does evolve. We are going to watch the opera soon and this is what I shall be wearing.

The initial spray is a very rooty and chalky iris accord, very cleverly deepened by the carrot note. During the first minute the cinnamon and buttery orris kind of create this very spicy and almost menthol-y scent reminiscent of those vintage cinnamon gum sticks we all grew up with! As the fragrance progresses it gets drier and sweeter, and ginger never really appeared to me at all. It was probably just a corner stone to build the gummy accord. In the end the drydown is very signature Byredo, as of recently. Mixed Emotions, De Los Santos and Eyes Closed are basically identical after 4-5 hours which proves that they are now re-establishing their own signature base, which many brands like Chanel and Guerlain popularized back in the day. They all ofcourse differ in small nuances, and to me Eyes Closed is the most unique one of these three. I love those cinnamon gum sticks.
