Very much in agreement with Cyrus Smith's criticism. The almond, first of all, a sweet almond, the small caramelized almond but remaining clear from the top of a puck, and floral(ized) hawthorn, also with the heliotrope aspect that we see clearly.

A white, light, veiled, comforting smell, a soft hug, a cloud (but which becomes green, and deep, and grainy with time). A crumbled meringue (or just the crumbs at the bottom of the paper bag), a white early winter sky, a little air of snowy wind on the back of your neck, the little thing that emanates from the local pastry shop, a on the dragée side without the extra sweet coating, a homemade almond milk, lukewarm, sugar-free, cocoon.

Pleasant, unique without the need to be exaggerated, beautiful, comforting, simple, refined, perfectly mastered, but not among those that one would recognize among a thousand, even less after a few hours, nor among those that I would wear a whole bottle (and even less at the Malle price).
But still, it’s beautiful, you have to admit.

I like iris-based perfumes but not too much heliotrope in general but I like winter water. This perfume is soft, like a second skin, you slip into it with happiness like a cashmere soft, warm and comfortable. There is a balance between citrus, iris and gourmand notes which is very fair.

Winter Water is like a soft cloud. Jean-Claude Ellena, who is said to be a bit like a watercolor master in perfumery, has succeeded in creating a very soft, half-tone perfume. One of those “white shirt” perfumes par excellence!

What I mainly remember is this impression of lightness, of softness, a bit like a meringue. A meringue enhanced with a touch of almonds. The heliotrope is well to the fore here with that characteristic smell of almonds. Enveloped in a powdery finish which evokes immaculate cleanliness, this sensation of almonds will be gradually accompanied by more woody sensations, a white, slightly cold musk. Very simple, this winter water lives up to its name extremely well.

Some detractors criticize it for being simplistic or insipid, or pale or saccharine. As far as I'm concerned, L'Eau d'Hiver is a great success. Like a fluffy cloud, enveloping like white snow, fresh, a little cold, immaculately clean. I actually like wearing it in winter when it's cold. For the mornings when we need softness, comfort, to see life clearly and clearly.
