CREED Original Vetiver Eau de Parfum

This one is simply astonishing. It smells fresh and natural. To me, smells like fresh cut grass early summer morning with dew. Reminds me of waking up with my windows open as a kid. Or getting the slip n slid ready for a morning of fun with my brother.

I get compliments on this, which is great considering I have a two spray maximum (I work in an office, and going in and out of meetings makes me not want to be overbearing in ANY way possible). Actually, two of the ladies at work have bought this for their husbands after asking me about it.

The smell of this brings me memories..
It’s a beautiful morning in Sorrento. You just showered. You’re sitting outside. You can smell freshly cut grass. It’s orange season. You’re drinking green tea, old italian lady brings you a bowl of freshly picked oranges. The weather is perfect and you are ready for new adventures.

This is an amazing fragrance for spring and summer. It smells grassy, citrusy and soapy at the same time. It is a very “photo-realistic” fragrance. Quite linear though. If you’re not the biggest fan of vetiver, this is a good fragrance to begin with.
Longevity 6-8 hours. Sillage is quite strong til 2-3 hour mark, then it becomes more of a skin scent.

I would rate this 10/10 for me. Love it.

I love vetiver fragrances, from the clean and green to the dark and dirties, and everything in between. Original Vetiver is, by far, my favorite fresh vetiver perfume that I find wonderfully refreshing, clean, yet a subtly sophisticated scent that's wrapped in that Creed ambergris DNA. Sure, the clean soapiness of this fragrance reminds me of Mugler Cologne (I have both) but Original is richer, more refined, and is less linear in that it changes somewhat during the dry-down.

While you may not receive (m)any unsolicited compliments while wearing this one, you will smell fantastic and offend absolutely no one. People will just assume you have the best smelling skin, hair and pheromones...and will linger longer while in your presence.

I also love Mugler Cologne (great office and casual scent) but, to me, Original Vetiver is just a bit more elegant and can be used as an evening fragrance as well. Projection and longevity are very good on my skin in that it lasts a solid 6-7 hours and projects moderately. Overall, I find Original Vetiver to be a leader when it comes to fresh Vetiver fragrances...however, it's pricey and I find Mugler Cologne to be a highly suitable alternative for those not wishing to pay $$$ for a fresh fragrance.

This blows Mugler Cologne out of the water.

Where Mugler Cologne is high-pitched, airy, and one-dimensional, Original Vetiver is anything but. The opening is similar to MC, but OV is more natural. From there, the two fragrances take different directions. The Mugler stays pretty linear, but the Creed develops into a thing of absolute beauty.

Green, clean, yet slightly earthy and peppery, this is an absolutely beautiful clean vetiver. NOTHING about this exists in Mugler Cologne. I made a huge mistake by listening to short-sighted reviews, and stayed away from OV, because people said it smelled the exact same as MC. Wrong.

Original Vetiver can be had at discount prices, but to be honest, it's so damn good, I'd pay retail. Once you actually spend some time with it, you'll quickly realize - this is a vetiver fragrance - and those that say otherwise, have never sniffed beyond the opening on a tester strip.

Projects well for about 3-4 hours, lasts for about 8 hours on the skin. An absolute must have for summer months. I'm a fan of the house of Thierry Mugler, but this isn't even a competition. Not close.
