Love!

Did not like at first by any means and ended up returning, then gave it a second chance and am now in love with it. Overpowering if your’e not used to the smell, but once you put it on it works amazingly. Chanel 5 is not just a fragrance but a lifestyle, one to be lived in and enjoyed. Understand her and she will be good to you, the EDP I dab on and it lasts me hours. I feel like I finally found the premium powder- French frag I’ve been looking for, nothing compares to it. 22 yo male here, my signature scent as of recent.

favorite

This is the perfume that finally made me create an account on this website. Since quarantine started, I've purchased around 30 decants of designer perfumes in an attempt to find my signature scent. I was seeking something feminine, lovely and sophisticated. I really like a lot of the scents I tried and thought I found my favorite until put this on just to use the sample. Like other reviewers, I already assumed I didn't like it and that it was an only lady perfume. On the initial smell, I was like "gross" then it dried down into something I reluctantly had to admit smelled nice and by the end of the day I was in love. Every time I smelled it, I was transported somewhere else. I was suddenly an old rich white lady in the 1930s not a 30 year old black woman in 2020. It's sensual and elegant but also delicate and demure. I can only imagine how phenomenal the vintage must smell. I feel like a huge idiot for doubting it. I will still be trying new fragrances but this one is my signature. A lot of reviewers have said that this fragrance reminds them of their grandmother and I want to be that grandmother some day.

masterpiece

This is a true masterpiece ! I discover it recently. Do not listen to those people who say it smells old lady like. Every fragrance smells VERY different on EVERYBODY. It doesn't matter whether you are old or young, its just a question of taste, mood and chemistry. Remember that you can NEVER be '' too old'' for anything IN LIFE in my opinion, it is just a state of mind...and people change as well as their taste for certain fragrances with time.

Rest assure that, even if you totally know by heart the notes in the composition of chanel no5, that you will have a hard time trying figuring out that it is what i am wearing because it smells very powdery creamy sweet on me. I'm 36. :) I've been complemented already by a few men i don't even know that were passing near me on the street and also by some of my mother's friend in their 60'S. They were surprised to know it was Chanel No5. It is complex and unique and simply wonderful. I already own a big bottle of Coco mademoiselle edp and i know now i will reach for this one more often.

Bottom line is : It's a MUST TRY not only because it is pure luxury in a bottle but just to see how it makes you feel. Who knows ? Maybe the Marilyn Monroe in you will come out :) :)

Very good

In 2012, Chanel made a power move and issued an advertisement in which Brad Pitt became the first (and so far the only) male face of Chanel No. 5. The marketing director says that this timeless thing should not belong only to women, but should be the property of all mankind. Inevitable.

By modern standards, it smells quite unisex, nowadays ladies wear this fragrance very rarely, so no one has ever told me that I wear a feminine fragrance. I got acquainted with the No. 5, as they say — from scratch. I’m from a humble family, and not a single lady had the Chanel perfume, so I can’t say the famous phrase “my grandmother smelled like that”.

It's not retro, you just either understand it now, or you will understand it later, like everything else from Chanel. In other words, love or hate, which will undoubtedly become love, but sometime later. Naturally, there is no masculinity and the guys who want to squeeze a man out of themselves with a jet of perfumery have nothing to do here.

The fragrance starts with aldehydes and flowers, very bright, sour, and incredibly loud. Further, it quickly begins to warm up due to sandalwood, and in about this condition, after 2 hours, it begins to fade, revealing even warmer vetiver and moss. In general, it smells like a rose covered with ice.

Many do not know how aldehydes smell, and how their smell can be described. For myself, I found the most similar comparison — a very, very concentrated smell of good cold butter.

I can compare this perfume with the film "The Great Beauty" by Paolo Sorrentino. Not by name, but by paradigm. He who wants to see beauty will see. And to whom the price tag or something else interferes, he will not see.

I wrote all this so that the male part of the fragrance community would not be afraid sometimes to take off blinders and look around, and of course, my respect to those rare girls who wear this masterpiece.

good

Funny story. I went to Belk to test Coco Mademoiselle, but her big sister (No. 5) was sitting right next to her. So I tried them both, and found Mademoiselle to be an ok scent since I wanted some Chanel in my life. I purchased the big bottle like a boss! I got home, and was laying on the couch watching tv, when this wonderful fragrance kept floating up to my nose. I thought to myself "is this No. 5 that is blowing my mind", "is this the granny smell that everyone says about this one"? I kept sniffing my wrist, closing my eyes, and throwing my head back at the whiff of it. I jumped back in my jeep, and flew back to Belk. The sales associate said "you're back, you didn't like it"? I said yes ma'am I did, but I am back to buy Chanel No. 5 please. She smiled and said, "I love it". They can say what they want about this scent, but it is like wearing several fragrances at once. It kept on changing, and I was there for the ride. It is truly one of those scents that shouldn't be dismissed too quickly. You may be surprised.
