This reminds me of running in the Mojave Desert after the rain.. one of my favorite smells in the world! It’s a beautiful mossy sage, I smell no plum whatsoever. But I think I would rather have this as a VERY high end room spray or candle than a personal fragrance. Regardless, I love it!!
As someone who lives in Los Angeles and is fascinated by this city, I’m always on the lookout for LA-inspired perfumes. This one really smells like the desert air in the hills around LA: green sharpness, I suspect from the sage, combines with the earthiness of the orris and softness of the musk to create a well-rounded yet unique experience.
Here I am, back again trying a new Byredo scent. I'll be as honest as possible.
I thought for sure this was going to be a dupe of Thé Noir from Le Labo when I first smelled it in the store but that isn't quite the case. There's similarities but it ends there.
On me it's nice, unique and really smells like tea with some chocolate. However, not even five minutes later it's a skin scent on me with a generous seven sprays from a sample atomizer.
However, the second it hit the air my wife said "oooh that's nice" which she NEVER says about any fragrance. So she's put some on and she's loving it. She also likes Pulp a lot and has a bottle. I have Tobacco Mandarin which in my opinion still doesn't last perform like an Extrait but I love the scent.
Definitely worth a try, especially if you prefer lighter, unique and perfectly unisex scents. For me though, when I'm dropping near $400 CDN on a fragrance, it better perform. People who are saying above that this is strong and long lasting either work for Byredo or are bathing in it.
I did end up getting this for my wife and I to share, on sale at Saks. Wearing it today, still love it but yeah, wish it was a little stronger.
Wow, I really like this. Quite modern and minimal, but very unique. Almost bitter herbal notes and a hint of tangy fruit on the opening, giving me a surprisingly boozy blast for the starters. Settles to an eerie ambroxan construction with earthy, herbal, salty, musky and woody sides playing games with your nose, appearing and disappearing.
Also a beautiful interplay of warm notes (silky musks, lightweight woods/resins and very understated powderiness) and that gentle nose cooling sensation from the sage. The bitterness does not completely disappear but just adjusts to a pleasant level, giving me some tea vibes, although tea is not listed as a note. Uplifting and meditative. Nearly angelic in an androgynous way. Celestial teatime in a bottle.
Honestly, the lifeline of this scent is one of the most unusual I have ever experienced. The fruit is barely there in the opening. And the herbal dominated phase lasts for hours on my skin. But on the ultimate dry-down, the mirabelle plum makes a glorious reappearance, presented with very understated woods and that silky musk. Such a beautiful take on fruity note. The only comparison that comes to my mind is Six Scents Ohne Titel, it also marries well lasting plum notes to an extremely smooth musk base with similar modern-minimal style, but it has animalic notes with distinct leatheriness and feels edgy-artsy, De Los Santos is angelic androgynous all the way to the end.
Lightweight, but very, very long-lasting. Excellent daytime choice, had to get my own bottle...
Byredos best offering since Sundazed. Opens up very herbal, with a quality reminiscent to dry hay and minty sage. The mix of mirabelle and orris creates what smells like a lapsang tea accord to my nose and i’m obsessed! The orris is rooty and chalky akin to O, Unknown by Imaginary Authors and the ambroxan base is redolent of Byredos own Mixed Emotions. Could be FB worthy. One of the most unique releases on the niche market in a while!
