The lily-of-the-valley ascends to blissful heights.

Some getaways let us reconnect with ourselves by placing us before the immensity of nature. The chance to commune with the planet feels like a renaissance. Apogée illustrates this sensation with a poetic elixir of innocence. A radiant lily-of-the-valley enlaces with petals of jasmine, magnolia and rose. A base of subtly smoky guaiac wood and sandalwood essence support the bouquet like slender stems reaching skywards.

Very good

The fragrance that will give your look style and luxury! The fragrance stays on the skin for 3-5 hours, on clothes a little longer. Bouquet of fresh, bright and real flowers, which are decorated with a citrus branch. Very feminine, soft, elegant

Love it

A bright, non-cloying white floral with citrus twist on my skin. It’s not a head over heels love affair but I do quite almost love it! We are in the strong like phase of our relationship and I think I need a little bit more wear time for the love to blossom. This is a fresh, elegant white floral appropriate for many environments/occasions. While safe, it has a bit more to it that makes it that much more interesting. I am really enjoying this. My two daughters love cuddling up to me wearing it. One says it’s very comforting and says “my beautiful mommy”... I just love that they get that feeling from this!

good

Apogée opens as a green, crystalline lily of the valley. A gentle citrus fruity zing and a lively verdancy like sap from cut stem, induce effervescence to this almost limpid lily of the valley. The fragrance feels very much like a crystal: it's more transparent and most lily of the valley soliflore perfumes that I've tried, but it still maintains a steadiness and a smooth, cool feeling, very much like touching a piece of glass.

2 hours in, the incremental changes within the fragrance start to take shape. The heart of Apogée is no longer a pure lily of the valley. There are now green, mildly sweet grass and leaves covered with morning dew. A tiny bit of peppery spiciness plays peek-a-boo, and an almost ozonic magnolia emerges, which feels less velvety and more watery than the previous lily of the valley.

The dry down sees the white flowers fall back under the veil of clean, laundry white musk with a metallic aldehydic nuance. This abstract, fresh floral white musk kind of reminds me of Byredo Blanche, but Apogée is smoother and less muddy, although not as refined and delicate as LM Parfums Chemise Blanche.

The sillage is close to the skin, and the longevity is around 11 hours. Apogée is by and large a fresh, green lily of the valley, supported by a considerable amount of clean white musk. I enjoyed its first few hours very much, with its dewy, dainty green floral redolence strongly evoking in me an image of crystal bells dangling in the spring breeze. Although its laundry white musk dry down doesn't do much for me personally, it's not as sharp as some can be, either.

If you happen to be interested in a clean, pure, innocent, fresh green floral white musk, Apogée might worth a try. I also think it's one of the more friendly lily of the valley fragrances out there as well.

Designing in His Sleep

Below is the draft review I first wrote about Apogée. I saved it for a few days, asking myself whether I was being overly enthusiastic or if this perfume was really that good? Conclusion? All the 2016 Louis Vuittons are that good. It's just a matter of taste re the starring notes. All sit on a fabulous leathery base, designed no doubt to imply luggage, of the high quslity kind. This morning I put a bit of this perfume on the back of my hand. All over again I'm swooning, so here's the review.
----------------
Apogée is evidence of a perfumer in command of his craft. I imagine Cavallier-Belletrud thinking,"I know, I'll make a Lily-of-the-valley solifore so good that women who hate LOV will swoon over it."

It's the kind of thing only those working at their peak can do, because they've studied endlessly and practiced until they can perform the rudiments blindfolded, or in their sleep, or while falling off a log. Just for fun, just for the joy of flexing his perfumery muscles, for the thrill of creating something new and glorious, he set out to accomplish it. To me this is a masterpiece among masterpieces, so stunning in its achievement that I had to take my LOV perfumery notes kit vial out to smell the raw product again. Yes, LOV is a chimera -- a flower in rotting garbage. No garbage here in Apogée. Perhaps only if you're always initially skeptical of LOV like I am, will you detect the skill he brought to this perfume.

I think Apogée is an attempt at a masterwork, blindfolded, one hand tied behind his back. He succeeded, too. No doubt in his sleep.
