This smells like Rosendo Mateu No.5 + violet. Another comparison would be a combination of RM No 5 & Mojave Ghost. I love it.
Animalique is such a clean leather that doesn’t pull rubber on me. There’s a freshness from the violet leaves which was expected but it isn’t ozonic, aquatic, or too bright. The mimosa also adds a bit of brightness with the tobacco adding a bit of dirtiness to the suede, which I think people are perceiving that mix as petrol. I like the opening the best. This overall dries down to a clean suede scent with a subtle aerosol musk. That goes away within the hour and then the prettiest fuzzy sweet note appears, like unlit tobacco wrapped in a vanilla wrapper.
Less animalistic and more fetishistic - a long memory of a woman condensed into the briefer memory of an object. Like opening a luxury handbag in 2006, or like the early, inchoate stirrings of lesbian desire, transferred onto an older woman's coat. Powdery violet and suede, made bodily with the smell of a just-opened pack of cigarettes. Top notes had an aldehydic brightness that wasn't really my thing (not much like gasoline, but more like acetone or the bleak drug store perfumes of my youth), but after half an hour it settled into soft, but powerful, florals and suede. It smells gorgeous - well balanced and refined - and the suede is sexy. Scans as either mature or aspiring towards maturity - "rich, tasteful, Scandinavian" is dead on @EszterNovembrine. Not sure if it works with my everyday style, but excited to test a few more times.
This is what Tom Ford White Suede should have been. I had big bottle of TFWS and sold it after a few months because it became mundane, and it had performance problems (nobody could smell it and I couldn't smell it) even when sprayed heavily on skin.
This one is not a beast but performance is better. Performance aside, the scent itself is way better. A soft suede that is persistent but never shouts, sweetened with saffron, backed up by violet/florals. It's slightly powdery and creamy. Gorgeous stuff. May lean fem for some but I'm an adult male and I have no problem wearing it. Only animalic in the first couple minutes.

Exceptional creamy powdery violet suede perfume; versatile enough to be worn in all weather. If you're considering Tom Ford White Suede, try this one before you buy.
I can see why people think it is similar to Tom Ford white suede as I used to have it. Animalique though doesn't have the ashtray feeling that people complained about with WS. Instead it leaves a sweet fluffy musky feeling, similar to Bal d'Afrique but without the citrus. I feel that this vetiver-mimic base is present in lots of Byredo scents. I would describe it as a boho, effortless and boem perfume. I love it and I purchased it after using up some samples. My boyfriend loves it too on me and always gives me compliments, if that's a factor you care about. Noticeable but not in your face.
I prefer it in spring weather because the floral notes are more prominent, than the cold winter weather.
